View moreWe do workshops on gender rights and allied topics for schools, colleges, teachers, parents and civil society, to create a learning experience of how we can create a more gender neutral enabling society around us. We also conduct POSH sessions for organisations, outreach programmes for civil society to educate on gender inclusiveness.
This vertical is designed to support survivors through the process of coming out of a life subjected to violence, by training of police personnel as first interceptors of crimes, by setting up helplines, networking with legal advisers and training counselors and rehabilitating and supporting the survivor. We also conduct sessions with legal experts and police and other allied resources to create a knowledge base amongst civil society.
We supported and facilitated multiple activities and programs in the Government institution, the Government Children’s Home, Ernakulam, to help survivors of trauma. Addressed all their basic needs like educational, mental and physical health, skilling and employment. We conducted continuous development programs for the welfare of the children like: attitude training programs, cooking classes, music and art therapy, psychological counselling sessions, facilitating tuitions, outbound tours, regular sports activities, regular medical camps and psychiatric assessments, monthly birthday celebration amongst others.
We provide sponsorship to deserving children for education, vocational training or admission to a college based on their merit, talents and interests. We also assist in their specific needs like hostel accomodation and other requirements. We consistently follow up on their educational progress.
We provide for the aftercare of children and women who have had a traumatic background, arrange for industrial visits, internship after their vocational training and assist them in seeking permanent employment. The objective is to bring them back to mainstream society and be independent. Sometimes we also provide support for their marriage requirements.
With the partnership of the local Police, ROV mentors the first anti human trafficking cell in the country, operating out of Kochi, in which volunteers from law colleges of the city work with a network of law enforcers, to rescue, support and rehabilitate Survivors of trafficking who are mostly sex trafficking Survivors.
We facilitate and organise discussion panels on gender related topics, violence against women, child sexual abuse, film screening on related topics, gender sensitisation programs, coffee meetings, maintaining a digital library on research material and publications, and capacity building program for its members.
We are supporting skill development, facilitating education, arranging tuitions, conducting summer camps all throughout the holidays, organising excursions and medical camps for children from Udaya Colony. This project is in collaboration with the local convent.
In times of natural disasters it has been observed that women and children bear the brunt of suffering. To alleviate their conditions we initiated this vertical. This vertical operates only during times of disasters like the 2018 and 2019 floods that Kerala witnessed. Here we identify women and children who are impacted and assist them to bounce back to normality.

We also conduct sessions with legal experts and police and other allied resources to create a knowledge base amongst civil society.
Through this vertical we address wide ranging issues women and children face in families, from domestic violence, divorce and broken families, education, skill training and job placements to child adoption and consequent issues. We hold counselling clinics weekly for affected families with psychologists, therapists and also legal professionals where necessary. This vertical is in many cases the first point of contact with ROV, after which they are referred to other verticals for follow up and monitoring.
